About Me
My name is Layne and I have a wonderful toddler boy. Oh, and I am a single mom.
I was not planning to be a single mom or have a child at all for that matter. When I found out I was pregnant, I was halfway through graduate school and starting a internship with a salary of $0.00. No exactly an ideal situation!
As I navigated school, work, and horrendous morning sickness, I learned a lot about time management and my priorities. After I graduated from school and moved to a new state to start a full-time job, I truly embraced the freedom of being a single mom.
So, here I am! I have settled into my routine and have some spare time that I am using to help share my experiences with other single moms. I certainly needed all the advice when I was in the initial stages of single-momhood. I am by no means an expert, but I wanted to create a community where other moms can feel seen and heard.
My Approach
I won't be bad-mouthing my ex on this platform. Instead, I am writing about lessons I have learned from my past relationship as it relates to independence and maybe co-parenting, eventually.
I also considered making this blog a single "parenting" blog, AKA for both moms and dads. I might include some guests who can speak from their own experiences as single dads, to help people understand their unique set of challenges. So even though this blog is titled "dear single moms...", it is also an open invite to all single parents and I will try my best to emphasize the single dad as well. What do you guys think?
